David Brooks writes his column because of how brainwashed america is and how America follows blind leaders. He writes to inform Americans to not believe in the myths corrupt business leaders such as trump feeds the media. The author uses negative diction to expedite his claim and to convince Americans of the myths that these business men spread. The author uses word like "bruised" to describe how american myths have been repaired by the elite to lie to Americans. He says, "injected into the bloodstream" to say the myths and lies this country's base has been built on has effected the people and now they believe in them. Using the specific word, "injected" makes the elite's crime to society even more uncaring. Brooks' uses careful diction to compare the myths to contaminating American's minds, almost like an incurable disease. The author does a great job at using specific diction to paint a clear picture of how the rich and the wealthy businessmen try and make new american myths to feed to the public.
